Garage Door Torsion Springs
Garage Door Torsion Spring Repairs
Garage door torsion spring repairs are one of the most common garage door repairs that we do. We’ve literally done thousands of these springs over the years.
Your garage door uses what’s called a torsion spring to open and close it. Depending on what type of garage door you have there will be one or two torsion springs at the top of your garage door.
The garage door torsion spring is under tremendous pressure and exerts great force when your garage door opens and closes. It’s very common (they last about 6 to 7 years) for your garage door torsion spring to crack and break and when it does you’ll hear a very loud “bang”. Believe me, you’ll know it when it breaks if your at home.
When your garage door torsion spring breaks you won’t be able to open your garage door
Garage doors openers rely on torsion springs to, experiencing great force each time the door is opened and closed. Every spring will eventually crack and break and repairs can be complicated. We can extend the life of your springs through tension adjustment or we will replace broken springs with high- tension steel parts.
Spring replacement can be dangerous as the springs are under great duress. We will replace them safely with high tension oil-dipped springs.
