Garage Door Spring Repairs
Garage Door Repair in Austin, TX
There are two main types of garage door springs, torsion springs and extension springs that break and need to be repaired or replaced.
Torsion Spring Repairs
Torsion springs are centered above the opening of your garage door. These springs are placed onto a metal bar that runs from one end of the garage door to the other end and are under extreme pressure.
Usually there are two torsion springs installed on a garage door and if one of them breaks the garage door will not open or close. When the torsion spring breaks you will hear a very loud bang. Hopefully is doesn’t break with you trapped in the garage!
It’s also usually a good idea to replace both springs when one breaks as it’s usually a good indicator that the other spring may be on it’s last leg. If you are unsure how to replace springs, it is important to have a professional replace them as this will lead to a less chance for injury.
We will replace your torsion spring(s) with new ones (some companies use refurbished parts) quickly and at the best price in town.

Extension Spring Repairs
Extension springs on your garage down will be found running along the side of the opening of the door and use a pulley system.
It’s important to know what spring size and weight to use when replacing your extension springs. Not all garage doors are the same and of course they will require different gauge springs so it’s critical you get the correct one for your door.
Again, we only use high quality, new springs when doing our repairs.
A well-functioning garage door will open and close smoothly. If it stops working, there could be a serious problem. If you can operate the garage door manually with the pull cord and the door is still hard to operate, then the springs may be out of balance. This could lead to a list of parts wearing and breaking.
